The City Farm Movement

The City Farm Movement began in 1972 with one donated goat. Today 13 city farms reach half a million Londoners of all backgrounds and generations every year. Each one is open-access, free to enter and offers close-up contact with farm animals. City Farms also…

Bridge Divides: linking inner city, the countryside and the source of our food, and linking Londoners to one another.

Promote good physical and mental health: volunteering programmes support wellbeing with a noted effect on the mild anxiety and depression that so many experience.

Give everyone a chance to contribute to civil society: Supported volunteering programmes offer a wide range of opportunities for people of all skills and abilities.

Educate: School visits, college placements and public engagement open horizons to farming, heritage, traditional crafts, healthy food, and how to protect and enjoy our natural world.

Grow: Farms provide space and support for community food-growing.  Farms embody the best of British food with high standards of taste, nutrition, sustainability and animal welfare.

Are fun! Farms are welcoming, safe place for adventurous children and young people, schools, young families, and everyone else too.
